I have run into a number of puzzles because my 1951 Commodore was essentially assembled from pieces of other Hudsons. Today I noticed something weird with the distributor, which is an IAT 4002 11D hooked up with a 1953 262 six. I was installing a Petronix ignition kit when I noticed that the breaker plate is immobile with the vacuum advance connected. The current vacuum advance unit has the numeral "8" inscribed ib the arm. My baxkup distributor, whode plate moves fine, has a differently angled arm on the advance unit.
I'm wondering:
Does the "8" mean that I have a mismatched straight 8 advance unit?
Will the vacuum advance make any difference with the electronic module installed?
Is this worth worrying about?
