Yes I know that they are wrong. I have the correct one on the way

Jeff, when you say it doesn't engage the flywheel?. You mean it doesn't even touch it?. If it doesn't make contact at all, the end frame on the starter needs to be turned 180 degrees. Sometimes when rebuilders overhaul them, this isn't something they know. It will go together regardless, only one way being correct?. If you look at the end view of the starter, you can see the offset. Hope this helps.

Also, make sure the starter is seated completely, and flush to the rear engine support plate.

I see that the mounting plate is off set. Does the long end go to the top?
