I am a newby to the Hudson market. My dad was a dealer/mechanic in the late 40's and early 50's. I am buying a 51 Hudson. My question is, what hub caps did the 1951 Hudson Hornet come with. I have seen small and large hub caps with the Hudson log on them. But, not sure what hub caps would have come on that model. Thanks
Bernie, the wheel covers that normally came with a 51 Hudson Hornet were the large sized cover with the red triangle in the middle. There were ribs on the outter edges of the cover . The 1950 Commodores had the same wheel cover as the Hornets and Commodores of 1951. Both had galvanized bases with a chromed laminated cover. In late 1951 the wheel cover that had been a clad model was obsoleted by a fully stainless steel version. . This cover is the one you want as they only needed polishing and dent removal. The earlier ones had chrome plating even though they were identical in design. The smaller covers were for Super Series cars as well as the Pacemaker. This is how the cars left the factory but if the potential customer wanted a different wheel cover the dealer would do whatever it took to make the sale.
