I would like to know what is supposed to stop the flow of oil through the housing on the shaft that attaches to the generator driveshaft. The parts list calls it an oil retainer. Felt, leather or a new sealed bearing are my thoughts. Thanks. Bob C.

The usual cause of oil coming out here is the level too high in the housing, because the chain has been adjusted the wrong way. When adjusting the chain, the notches must be moved towards you at the top. If you go the other way the oil drain holes are brought around too high so the level builds up higher than the shaft.

Thanks Geoff. It was exactly as you suggested. That takes care of that leak...
