I have been using synthetic oil last two oil changes 5 W 30 is this correct or what should I be using ? Have 53 Wasp 262 engine,, original

Oooh that sounds a bit thin. Especially in summer months when these motors were run on 30w. Today's 5w 30 oils are great for getting oil to distant complex valvetrains on cold mornings, but not so for these old power plants. Would consider 10w 40 to be a reasonable option. Some others use 10w 30 or even 25w 40. But I don't know of any one using 5w in these
Thanks for heads up, what about synthetic or normal oils , I will change oil on mon. to 10W 40

I would use straight 30 Non Synthetic
I use 15 40 desial oil in my 1952
I've used 10W30 conventional oil in all my Hudsons since 1976 with absolutely no problems. I feel using synthetic oil in a Hudson is a waste of money. Today's oils are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Synthetic oils are more prone to leak, as well. Personally I use Castrol GTX 15-40 (non-synthetic)
You will get many responses, but here’s my $0.02. Synthetic is good but probably not needed as you should be changing oil very frequently. Some harp on the need for zinc additive because if the flat tappets. Today’s oils come with less and less zinc because they damage t the cats. If youchange oulfrequently youre ok but I did choose to use valvoline racing 10w30 as it contains 1300 ppm zinc, a requirement for my rebuilt AMC 258. Others use additive with zinc. Pure 30w is correct in most climates per owners manual so cant argue against it. Sorry but you gave lots of choices. Most important is to change oil every 2k
Kim,
As Charlie said, 15W-40 is a good choice. Ordinary automobile oil, including synthetic oil, no longer has certain additives which were shown to be bad for catalytic converters, and were phased out a few years ago. These additives are good for old engines. 15W-40 has these additives. It is intended for diesels, which don't have catalytic converters.
