Read old forum about using 6 volt halogen headlight bulbs. Is there a custom plug socket or diagram how to use these in a 1935 ? Seems the old 6 volt bulbs are more expensive and less bright ?? Any tips would be appreciated.

My cousin put 6 volt Halogens in his 1929 Peerless and the difference was like night and day. I think they just went right in without any changes to the sockets.

Any idea where to get them? I'd like to look into it for my Franklin. My Hudson already had a 12v conversion.

Thank You for the reply. I received e-mail from Australia for U.S. supplier www.classicbulbs.com which is the Little British Car web site too. I was given part number # 170-756H Pre-Focus halogen bulbs for $ 29.00 each. Not cheap but if gives good light then good. Thanks to all who are willing to help a new owner to an old car I know very little about.
Best regards,
Bill

Don't be too surprised if there is not as much brilliance as you expected. Unless you fit a relay, there may not be much improvement.

Geoff makes a good point about Relays. I forgot to mention when I posted the Company to purchase Bulbs. I have Relays on mine to get full Battery Voltage. You need a Relay on both High and Low Beam. Relays can be purchased from any Auto Store. Diagram to wire the Headlight Relays can be obtained Online by goggle dual headlight wiring kit Additionally, Ive seen nice ready made dual relay Kits around $40 Online thats practically Plug In saving a lot of time & trouble. They come with wiring pretty much done done, Relays & fuse...Moss Motors/Ebay/ Amazon, etc... Maybe Little British have the Kit too....

...and to add to the suggestions (of using the halogen bulbs, and relays): solder a ground wire to your headlight socket, and run the wire down to the nearest connection to the car's frame. Also, get your reflectors re-plated (either with original silver plating, or with the Uvira aluminum deposit process.

Doesn't Jim Spencer (HET Club member) sell a prewired suitable relay?

Ebay has NOS, dual relay, headlight kits. They come with instructions. The kit I used looked like an old voltage regulator. Apparently dim 6 volt headlights were a problem back in the day.
