Getting ready to buy new tires for my 1930 8 Standard. Anything to watch out for? Any brand or place to buy preferred? Thanks for any info. I'm a nube at antique cars.

I've moved this to the "Hudson" sub forum. It was in the "Club & Forum Suggestions & Comments" area.

I've purchased original bias ply tires from both Coker & Universal & been satisfied with what I received. My choices were made on the basis of tire pattern wanted & size (width) available as well as price. Remember that originally tubes & rust bands were used with the wood spoked artillery wheels!!

Scott,

You could also try Lucas Tires. I've been happy with them and their prices. I also wanted to ask if you could post some pictures of the engine compartment of your Hudson Eight, assuming that is all stock. You could put those in the gallery section of the website. I just bought a 1933 Hudson Standard EIght, and it is missing some parts. The engine setup was basically the same through 1933. Thanks, Tim

If you go larger make sure the tire will go in the wheel well pumped up. Don't ask why I have tools, etc in my wheel well.

Edit: additional info: In stepdown: 235/75R15 WILL NOT go in the wheel well in the trunk, must lay flat !!! Came with the car !! BUT, If I were buying, I would buy that size again; awesome footprint. BUT again,
would buy DiamondBacks; the C. Classics that are on the car need around 2-3 ounces weight on EACH tire--ridiculous. ALSO, consider Hunter Road Force Balance if you have in your area: the best.

An "8.20r15" tire is a radial tire. thats what the "r" means.

Depends if you have the 5 inch or 5 and 1/2 inch wheels. If 5 inch: 7.10-15s, if 5 1/2 inch: 7.60-15s.
