Nathan, let me know how the LEDs work out. I don't think you can adjust the brightness on those -- they are on or off. There is a rheostat for the old style lights. I've thought about switching over to those types of lights, but wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. Probably advantages far outweigh disadvantages. Much less heat generated, longer life, brighter, less current needed, etc.
Sorry, my post was confusing or not clear. I went with incandescent because I was using at least 7 and at $8 a pop I wasn't going to splurge. I bought the 10 pack of incandescent for $13. I did not get the LED.
I bought a 10 pack of 6 volt LED’s on eBay but I haven’t used them yet. Apparently LED’s show straight forward with no side illumination.
Regular bulbs light up the whole globe giving side illumination. I don’t know if that would matter or not?
