I'm looking for a workshop manual that covers 1938 Hudson Terraplane. I had one but unfortunately between various mechanics it has got lost. I can't find it in the HET Club online library and the Club Store (Manuals) link is not working. Anyone out there have a PDF version you could email me?

Thanks Paul, but no this is not the one I'm looking for. This is the Owners Manual, which while it does show some exploded diagrams does not have all the detail of the Workshop manual. The Workshop manual is much more detailed which is what I need as I'm having some issues with my gearbox - 2nd gear jumping out and so need detailed illustrations and specifications.

Steve, email me on NZgeoffclark@xtra.co.nz (leave off the leading NZ) and I can scan and post the Motor Manual pages on the transmission. The only way you are going to be able to stop them jumping out of 2nd gear is to fit new parts, as the drive sleeve and 2nd gear teeth will be worn tapered.

I think the 1934-37 shop manual (which is available online, at the Library here) should work. I don't believe the basic transmission changed between 1937 and 1938.

Also: I was under the impression that the vertically sliding lock bars at both sides of the transmission, prevented the car from coming out of gear unless the clutch was depressed. However, I will defer to Geoff, who has an amazing knowledge of these cars!
