Need info on how the inside front windshield garnish metal fits into the rubber gasket and then into the body for a 1936 Hudson Custom 8 sedan. There are no books or info on the installation for it

Carl, what do you mean "how it fits into the rubber" ? You have to make the windshield gaskets, then install them into the body. Making the windshield gasket are no big deal to make. We do a preliminary cut on the pieces, then fit them onto the glass. Remove the pieces, clean them so they can except adhesive wherever you put it. The piece that goes around the glass, has the flap, needs to be pulled somewhat tight on the glass. It will try to stretch back, so you can use a little 3M weatherstrip adhesive in the groove to glass, to make it stay in place. This really helps to hold the round corners without any pucker in the corners after they are installed, fit uniform and let the outside seal form to the body. Once that is completed, you can angle cut and fit the division bar rubber to the glass. Do not stretch the division bar. Now , if you have done this correctly, you should be ready to install the glass into the body. Make sure the screw holes in the outside center chrome division bar divider are in good shape , not stripped, blocked or plugged with old sealer.
When you have all this is place, you will need windshield sealer. We stock and use windshield butyl, NOT HARD setting windshield urethane. Urethane windshield sealer is what modern day cars use, not for our applications.
The center division bar HAS TO BE SEALED. If you don't seal it, it will leak. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
We got the windshield and rubber in place along with the center chrome bar. What I am having trouble with is the inside metal that goes around the windshield . It starts at the top of the windshield next to the center chrome piece then goes to the edge of the windshield down the side then across the bottom back to the center chrome piece
Hi Carl call me the inside molding dose not go into the rubber I will tell you what to do when you call me Tom 651-315-1337
Carl, does the garnish line up at the bottom of the dash?. Do you have the lip of the windshield gasket pulled completely over the edge of the body opening on the outside?. Do you have any pictures?.
Well, then I guess I did my '37 windshield completely wrong. I put the rubber on the glass, then used a dremel grinder attachment to grind down the rubber so the rubber with the glass in it would fit in the car. Seems to fit OK though, but I'll have to use a razor to cut out the 'pucker' in the corners. Where exactly would you use adhesive in this assembly?
John, after you have pulled it around the glass, use adhesive in the corners where it meets the middle division bar. Miter the corners as needed where the two pieces come together. The rubber must be pushed onto the glass all the way. If you don't, it will allow the rubber to sometimes pucker in the corners. We are working on online instructional video's to assist in installing our rubber products and other procedures.
