I'm not sure it makes a difference, but you might want to say what year of Hudson you have. Possibly the 1948 corks have a different thickness than the 1915 corks....

Oh Yes, the thickness DOES make a difference. Nominal thickness was around 3/16" (0.187") with a maximum around 0.210" and a minimum around 0.150". If thicker than 0210" , some folks would add another gasket between flywheel and pressure plate in order to get full disengagement of the clutch.

I assume you need this clutch for your 1952 Hudson Wasp? Model 5B as listed in the roster? Strangely it is listed as a 1952 Super Six 5B, but 5B is the 1952 Wasp. The Super Six model name was abandoned starting the 1952 model year.

The early multi-plate clutches up to 1926 had only 1/32" thickness protruding each side of the plate. From 1927 onwards (single plate) all models had 1/16" thickness each side.

Thanks for the feedback i recorked my own clutch in a 1950 Pacemaker corkes were totaly wiped out i just took a guess at the thickness and ended at about less than 1/8 and used a disc grinder down to fit the cover needed longer bolts to draw it down .I worried that the clutch would not release but it worked.

Charles, are you talking the disc total thickness is .125 ?. That is the thickness of the steel with no corks?. Since you re-corked the disc yourself, did you rebuild the pressure plate too?. Did you check the installed height of the 3 fingers in the pressure plate when it was assembled?. Most all these procedures are in the Hudson Mechanical book. I hope it last. Have you gone out and actually driven the car?. I would think at that thickness, the clutch would/should be slipping. What size of corks did you install?.

Hi Doug, i used 9/16 to 3/4 tapered corks alternate side to side hot water to soften them i hadto adjust the thickness of the cork to fit the clutch cover on .I used a disc grinder put the disc in my lathe and sanded them down. I had to use longer bolts to start cover on then the regular bolts worked i was concerned that the disc would not release but it works. i drove around my farm area seemed to work ok. this is just temporary so i can move the car in and out of my shop to do body work. it's going to get a power train update Ford 351w AOD trans .
