Welcome to the club, Mike. Give it a day or two, but you should be getting responses soon. Where are you located?
Washington state the car has a lot of rust, needs engine, interior ect. but is saveable ,I'm going to need a lot of help with it. hope I came to the right place for advice and pointers.
I have the hinges you are looking for. 704 792 911 zero.Happy to help.
Michael, just a word of caution: if the very door hinges are rusted away, you must have some pretty serious rust issues. You may want to pause and assess them before proceeding. As you may already know, the 1948-54 Hudsons had one of the early unit-bodies, and cars that were driven on salty roads or left out in the rain for years, tended to dissolve. (Dissolving is not inevitable with a Hudson Step-Down; if you acquire a solid one and garage it properly it may last forever.)
One of the real "problem areas" is the frame in the vicinity of the rear wheels, so you should get under the car and check that out immediately. If we are talking about holes in the floor of the car, on the other hand, patch panels can be obtained and welded in place. But getting someone to repair the frame is going to eat up a lot of the budget you would normally have devoted to paint, upholstery and engine work. (If you happen to be a skilled welder, of course, you can do all this work yourself.)
If you come to find that your body is really badly rusted, and you are intrigued by the '54 design, be aware that there are a lot of '54's for sale out there with solid, un-rusted bodies. And at a reasonable price. You can even buy a "driver" and then gradually restore it (new paint, upholstery, chrome, etc.) even as you drive and enjoy it.
I don't mean to discourage you, but it would be a shame to come to the realization, after investing thousands of dollars in rust repair, that you are only NOW ready to sink a whole bunch of money in the REST of the car! Having a good solid un-rusted car to begin with, can make the extra expenditure of money (for that car) well worth the expense and aggravation of restoring the body of a "bargain" Hudson.
(Oh, and by the way: whatever path you choose, be aware that Lance has a huge inventory of really great Hudson parts!)
