So here's just a few updates on my build so far complete interior gutted new floor pans in I have rebuilt both trunk lid hinges got a new vinyl dash installed and new paint on the grill and the dash and several other pieces of interior along with some special personal touches new wiring is complete even added some four way flashers for future use and a few 6 volt LED bulbs from a local vendor I got one set of door panels completely rebuilt just need to upholster them and got swatches on the way to match up the vinyl that I purchased locally to have seat covers made from lebaron's only problem is lebaron's doesn't have a pattern for the headliner for my 54 if anyone knows of someone who does and can match up whatever color I use that would be helpful I will attach some pics all in all not too shabby Also if anyone knows where to get some new rocker panels that would be helpful C2C is where I got the floor pans but they don't have rocker panels
Scotty, Check you private mail.
FYI
Acme Headliner thru JC Whitney is one outlet for a Headliner & Windlace to match. I ordered thru JC but they supplied ah 800 number to call direct to Acme. They told me have patterns to fit cars back to the early 1900's
I checked JC Whitney and acne but didn't see any for a 54 4 door lebaron's didn't have a pattern for anything close they only had up to a 1950 now I've got all my sound deadening in need to order some trim panel clips and I can get to work on redoing the rest of the trim but got the truck Rhino lined and the whole inside Rhino lined found a local glass shop that will do all four side windows and the rear vent windows for about 500 bucks which seems pretty reasonable however after doing a little bit of poking on the rocket rocker panels they seem to be shot and C2C doesn't sell them probably looking at having to do them by hand I know I'm going a bit backwards doing the interior first but the way I figure what little bit of body damage and paint that needs to be done won't keep me from being able to drive this bad boy but if I don't have seats that makes it a bit difficult more to follow as the build continues however just a quick question for anyone who may have already done this is it possible for a shop to turn the original generator housing and make it into and alternator I have an extra starter and Generator that were in the trunk and were replaced so they're both bad was thinking about having the starter rewound for 12 volt and if it's possible having the original generator turned into an alternator that way it keeps the look original and there's no extra mods 4 pulley brackets and such bad idea or good idea? Plus for anyone who needs sound deadening I got this off of an eBay site but the first and something was so quick and the price was so good that I bought a second batch and lined the entire cab with it same properties from what I could tell as Dynamat only 50 square feet cost me 86 bucks instead of a few hundred
finding more small things, bent nails holding the accelerator linkages together and the very last electrical connection is at the base of the steering column and connects to a linkage to the tranny. it has 2 bullet and 2 spade connections, cant find what this is. not sure if is overdrive but if thats the case we have an issue because i dont see the solenoid anywhere. looks like i dont have overdrive. tag on the tranny says H52-22599. hydramatic tag on the door for the model is 7307382 does this mach to a 54?
Scotty in regard to the switch at base of steering column, it may be your neutral safety switch. Don't want to start Hudson in gear. If the leads from this switch go to ignition and your ignition switch you know its right. Make sure its position is adjusted so continuity is only complete with car in neutral.
Got some new updates most of the dashes in and got my new seat covers and interior panel started so feeling pretty good LeBaron supplied a nice color that matches perfectly with what I already had although it's not original but it looks good still have to put in the other seat and since these were designed to slip over the original and my original seats needed some bad help I think it turned out pretty darn good maybe someone can tell me where I made this mistake in the back center console as to why it's sitting higher than the other two portions of the seating still need to tweak a little bit here and there and put in the new carpet and headliner
Nice work, thanks for sharing. Not sure why armrest so high, suggests wrong mounting holes used or metal cage upside-down?
Yeah got that sorted out on the armrest whoever put it in before had the cage hung on the clips for the seats and not bolted to the body so when i put it back in thats the way i did it fixed that . Noticed the front seat would not move once installed so had to pull it out and lube up the slides but looks like the seat handle should have a spring attached to it but unsure where other wise it is loose and doesnt engage the lever for the slides
I dont have car near me to look. Check body manual in online literature.
