What is the correct part number for a NAPA 6v battery that fits correctly on the tray and the hold down. My local NAPA says he only has the small case group 1 available. The hold down just barely hits the small battery at the diagonal corner braces.
Tom
Tom, you may already have battery size information (by group number) but if not, here 'tis: https://www.jegs.com/Sizecharts/bcigroup.html
Scroll down to the 6-volt passenger car section and you'll see the dimensions for the two most common 6-volt batteries, #1 and #2 (with a couple of #2 variations thrown in). I assume that you know of several battery manufacturers beyond NAPA; for example, I've been using a DEKA #2 battery in my '37. Still under $100, has good CCA (780 I believe), and lasts maybe 5 years. Of course the Optimas can't be beat for long life, and they have good CCA as well, but they're a bit more expensive! And (again, as you may already know) you can buy a plastic cover for them which resembles the original lead-acid battery. But, that's another hundred dollars!
