It is beyond repair and needs to be replaced I am in Australia and this car is list as a 1930 model but the body was built here and I believe is was made in 1929

Here in Wellington New Zealand, the spares section of our local Vintage Car Club has yielded 2 NOS ring gears for my 28 Essex. They were not labelled & needed to be measured against a sample. Maybe you have a similar Club in Aus!!

Hi Ray
I used one & would like to keep the other as a spare as I have 2 x 1928 Essex Coupes to keep on the road..
Is the 29 Hudson flywheel the same as the smaller engined Essex?
You maybe able to build up teeth with weld & reshape them if that's your problem.

The Hudson and Essex ring gears are not compatible. I can probably get you a Hudson ring gear but not cheap, (around U.S.$130 plus postage.

Contact me direct on NZgeoffclark@xtra.co.nz (Leave the NZ off the address, that's just a spam foiler. Your ring gear should have 118 teeth.
