Dan, You need a puller that holds underneath the column and has a pressure screw that exerts pressure from the front. Sort of like a really big C clamp. If you want to buy one I have one to sell.

Thanks Lance but I got it off with a 2 arm gear puller. just had to use a large hose clamp to hold the arms of the puller tight to the bottom of the wheel, not much to grab hold of there! It was tight! Had to gradually keep tightening up the puller and soaked the shaft and keyway with PB Blaster. Finally the wheel popped off.
