In regards to the Hornet fender emblems, and the "rocket" on the trunk, does anyone know what the paint code or color is for these? I have a pair of fender rockets that are NOS, and I want to paint the trunk rocket the same color. Having a hard time, the paint shops aren't able to scan it off the chrome correctly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Bill

There are several sources for paint codes in manuals in the online library.

Bill, I am looking forward to seeing your car in San Diego!!! I would say any paint code will not match your original parts anyway. years of sitting around causes discoloration. I would recommend simply mixing some custom colors until you get it the same or what your satisfied with. Also, remember you can't see any of the pieces installed together and will be very hard for anyone to tell if it is a shade off from side to side, or in back of the car!

Hi Doug! Yes you are right, couldn't tell by being slightly off, and the rocket being on the back and the other two on the front fenders. Sometimes I just get to picky and forget little things like that won't be noticed. I am working hard to get this done for show, it will be close. The days keep flying by, and that day job sure gets in the way!! We shall see.

Do as Doug advises. When I had our '52 painted the color for the top was selected using a chip and the result was annoying. Had to repaint after selecting color that was closer to the original.

I have seen others who have painted theirs using Testors Bright Red, It is surprisingly a good match, The paint is available at Wal-Mart and Amizon, Whenyou are there, by some reducer and retarder, The retarded will slow the dry to allow the brush marks to flow out.

I don't know how well it will last but it is a quick and inexpensive way to get them RED
