howdy,

how do you check the brake fluid level in 1951 hornet?

Does any have pictures of where the floor board cap for the master brake cylinder is located under the floor carpet ?

is it on the driver's side? ... while the transmission cap is on the floor board on the passenger side.

I need to check after the cars has been sitting for severalllllllllllll months.

God Bless,

On the driver's side floor board there is a small, round plate secured with 3 hex-head screws. Once the plate is removed the master cylinder is immediately evident. It is sealed with a hex-head cap. The portal plate may look like it has been sealed to the floor with a rubber-like material, but pull on the plate with the screws are out before attempting to cut on it and you will save yourself a lot of wasted effort..

I would invest in a shop manual. You can buy them from the club store, or there are many used ones available online. Of course, others have already given you some useful info on how to do this.

There is nothing like doing the task to learn how; I checked the fluid by pulling up the carpet and removing cover and then the cap. (On my new 1951 Hornet Coupe.)

Just make sure you clean all the areas good before you remove the master cylinder cap, as you do not want any dirt to get into the cylinder. Walt.
