I have a 51 Pacemaker with 3 speed overdrive. Everything works perfectly. After letting it switch into OD, maybe 30 to 60 seconds later the ignition will cut out for just a few seconds and then drive perfectly. It doesn't do it every time but close enough to expect it. I can't guarantee it is because of the OD, but it seems likely. Every once in a while it will stumble like ignition cutoff, but just for a second or so. I've convinced myself the ignition cutout for the OD switch is somehow shaky
.
Is the engine under load when this missing happens? If so, it may be the spark plug wires.
Better start by checking the kick down switch and the wire that goes to the distributor that kills the engine for a second to down shift. Walt.
Thank you. I was wondering if that was a thing or not. Will check it out.
Forgot to mention, that is one nice looking Hudson. Do you travel any distance with it? Walt.
I like to drive my cars. I have quite a few. This is still the new pony in the stable. I still need to tinker with it before I travel more than a hundred miles or so. The car has 21,000 original miles, It was taken apart to cosmetically restore and there are a few things still to sort out.
