I remember reading about this before but can't find the posts.
53 Hornet gas tank is hard to fill, takes a long time to get it full. Seems like the tube next to
the tank filler tube is the culprit?

Kerry, That is probably the culprit, This vent tube comes off the top of the tank and attaches to the filler neck. often plugged, kinked . Have had this problem several times with cars " joining the family"
