On taking apart my 308 for a rebuild everything is coming loose but one valve will not come out,ive tried heat, tapping, prying, and am looking for some advice on its removal.this motor sat for a long time in a barn and should be a good engine for a rebuild.any help out there? Thank Yoy in advance.Chris
If the manifolds are removed, get a screwdriver with a bend in it, stick it through the intake or exhaust port, whichever it is, drive it up. Make sure you are not damaging the valve seats while prying or driving. Good luck
Holy smokes!!! i never thought a valve could take that kind of abuse,i whacked the crap out of that with a huge bent driver and shazzam it started to move out, some more abuse and here it came out looking a little funny but it was out,Thank You for the advice Doug,Chris
I had to jack them out of a 54 262 with the adjusters, using various flat wrenches for 'bait'. Some came out with the guides. Engine is now rebuilt with new guides, valves, rings etc.
