Wow. That's neat. Are you going to leave it as a feature? It has character

After looking at the seats, I'm sure the entire car was upholstered this way. I've only removed the two covers shown but I've peeked under the rest of the back seat and it is all there. The front seat is still in the car but has the same slip covers as the back so I'll assume...other than wear ....it is all the same. This has got to have a story behind it!! Terry

Is this a 1951 Hornet Coupe out of Wisconsin? Dan Harris had a '51 Hornet with that upholstery in it. Dan is the son of Charlie Harris from Nebraska. I remember Dan selling the car a few years back. Think he had it on Ebay once or twice.

That is really wild and makes one want to know the history of the car.

Ken, I bought the car from a elderly gentleman in Florida by the name of McCall...I can't remember his first name....but I never asked where he got it and he never mentioned the Leopard skin seats. The seat covers I took off are very nicely made and were attached properly with hog rings and to be honest, the Leopard seats are stitched even better. I agree with Kerry, someone out there in Hudson land knows something and maybe this was a car that was owned by Mr. Harris..., I can't imagine another one lurking out there somewhere. Terry

Terry I now see you have a Hornet Hollywood Hardtop. The car I recall Dan Harris owning is a Coupe, so they are definitely different cars.

If you're considering keeping the leopard print (which is really cool) would you want to sell your slip-on covers?

It would be cool if someone popped up and said "that was my old car". I think it is more promising than trying to track down a car using the vin number. If there is another out there, we'll just have to line em up and see which Leopard skin seats go faster. I haven't decided what to do as I wasn't expecting to find this- I guess it all depends on the condition of the front seat fabric. My wife doesn't like them- says they're too loud?????? Scott, I have to talk to an upholsterer to find out if they can make different covers without pulling these covers apart but I'll keep you in mind . I may take the front seat out tomorrow just to see what lurks beneath. Terry

Ken, the e-mail notifications I get (that someone has responded to the subject) have all the text that you wrote but it doesn't show up here on the forum- I just got a bunch of "8's". I can barely post a picture so I'll be of no help troubleshooting....but to your last entry- I'm going off the insurance card and it has the 7A 122270 as the vin. I never had a problem transferring the title from a Florida title. I'll dig that out and check that also. The vin plate doesn't look new but who knows? I just painted the car and I POR 15'd as much of the frame as I could reach with the body on but the fenders/ doors/ quarters etc. removed.....including the area where you say it's stamped on the frame. I'd say your right- that the "1" in vin could be a error or any one of the other numbers. I'll keep looking. Terry
