Wondering if there might be another source for leaf springs besides $704 with shipping from Eaton. I've searched the forum and the magazine ads. The previous owner did a good job installing a pair of air shocks but I'm not a fan of the jacked up look. The '37 has been modified with a modern drivetrain, just retaining the original (tired) leaf springs.
Wow, I'm stunned at that price! ( I assume that was for all four, correct?)
You might google antique car leaf springs, but I myself would have sent you to Eaton.
I actually found a flea market vendor with NOS springs but they were "export" (whatever significance that might have) and now the car sits way up high. I can easily slide under it to work on it. And it has a very tight ride. At least it doesn't sag.
Have you explored having your springs re-arched? I've heard mixed opinions on this; some people say that after awhile the car sinks down again. Maybe you could obtain one or two new leaves, and have a spring company substitute some old leaves for the new ones. I understand that nowadays, leaves are made thicker than in the old days, so maybe that would give you just the right amount of lift without having a harsh ride.
