I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to install the trim on the rear window of my 46 Commodore 8?

Cody,

Doug Wildrick will probably chime in here, but you may have to remove the rubber/glass. The ss trim goes in a channel in the rubber and is best assembled together with glass I think, then the whole assembly goes into the car. I think that's usually the best way to do it. If your rubber is old, you might just consider replacing it anyway..

Thank you for the information Tim. If that is the case I will just have to wait until next spring when I pull it back down for restoration.

Cody, where are you at? If near Indiana, I'm sure Doug Wildrick could help you out (he has a Hudson restoration business and also sells the rubber products for Hudson. It's a 2 person job regardless, and the rear window is the only curved glass on those, so you want to be careful with it.

I'm in Payson, Utah. I didn't know if there was clips or what so I need new trim anyway so i'll order it this spring when I pull the window to fix the headliner. Thanks again I appreciate it.

Cody, you have a lot of experienced Hudson folks in your area. I'm in WA, from ID. Hope to be down to UT soon. Maybe we can visit.

Sounds good. Let me know when you are in state. I'd like to try and meet up.

Cody, there is a procedure in the body book. It shows a special tool and a string, that assist in doing this job. We found doing it that way is a total pain !! - BUT does work. You also need to make sure that there is no old sealer, dirt or anything else in the groove before installing. Make sure both covers are in place on the moldings and slide easily.
