I have an 8 Cyl Hudson engine which is stuck from water in the intake. It's not in a vehicle & currently not taken apart. Except for the missing carb which is how water entered, I believe. I did pull the plugs this morning & put some ATF in each hole. A couple of the plugs had rust on them when I pulled them out. I then tried to turn the engine by the crank bolt below the water pump. I felt slight movement which I believe is just the bolt tightening, so I didn't continue.
Thus, I'm looking for suggestions on how to unstick it.
The valves are likely stuck as well.
Take head off first ? Go from there~~
I have freed-up several engines in the last 40 years with Marvel Mystery Oil,but never when water was involved. If you have the time to try it,drain every thing you can, fill that engine right to the top, through the oil fill and the plug holes. If the oil fill is lower than the top of the heads, use a rubber plug to continue filling the block. As it drains through,I keep topping it off,the last rescue was a '68 LeSabre that sat for 20 years,it took almost 10 quarts.Once a week I would top it off, then let it set for six months. Then I put a small heater under the engine and let it warm the block, then let it drain for two days.I refilled with oil and the starter broke it free after two mechanics gave up.The neighbors thought the garage was on fire from the smoke, but after 5 minutes it cleared up and I drove the car around the block. That was 10 years ago and the car is still on the road. Also saved a '54 Nash Statesman and a '60 LeSabre this way.Low mileage is also a help, less wear, less room for moisture,.but if water was in it long enough to cause rust, you're probably in trouble.
