Some advice please - when attaching stainless fastening strips on the Pacemaker, do these get attached straight to the body or should there be something between them and the body (like thin rubber). Most have been painted with POR15 so just need to put them on once "correctly".
Thanks

Don, I suggest that you contact Jayson Fisher at Vintage Coach. He has barrels full of retainers so should have what you need. Email him at: albrighthudsons@msn.com

All,
I've been calling Dellis about once per month for strips for my 50 COmmodore 6 4 door; he's been slowed down with age and his wife's health. I know he plans to get out of the business after such a long time, but he always tells me he will deliver. We always seem to have the same conversation, beginning with what I am hoping to get, what car, etc, then leading to him honestly telling me he is slowing down, but committing to get it done.

Has anyone had any deliveries from him lately to give me some confidence? He's been at it a long time and deserves to slow down and stop, and I respect that. I just can't determine whether he can, God bless him.
Pat

We sell all the necessary sizes for step-down cars. It requires knowing location and model. We cut them into 3 in.pieces, and use buytl between the retainer and the body. This seals the screw holes from leaking moisture. This is how it was originally done. Usually it is either gone or hard as a rock and breaks away once you remove the old retainers. Originally, the retainers were a continuous piece of metal , slightly curved for the belt line moldings, curved for around the doors and roof. We try to use the original pieces around the windshields. Try restoring the special clips at the "A" and "B" pillars- '52-54, that retain these moldings. Those pieces are usually rusty like all rest but need to be there for them to be properly installed.

Doug, THanks. I didn't know you provided those (don't think I saw them at the website). I'll call Dellis again and if he doesn't have them ready, I'll call the shop.
