Installing Clifford Headers on the 308

After getting a set of Clifford headers and having the ceramic coated I then needed to figure out how to install them. If you ask the rep at Clifford they would tell you to bend a large washer so that it contacts the intake manifold and the headers. See the pic attached. After trying that we were not satisfied. Others had said to grinding down the intake manifold to make the attachment even.but I did not want to do something irreversible. What we ended up doing was finding a piece of small flat iron of the thickness required to fill the gap between the original cruciform washer and the thinner header plate. We then welded the piece on the washer. See the attached pic. It was a lot more tedious that just bending a washer and it looks nice on the engine. I hope it works well over the long run. See attached pic of the modified cruciform washer in place.
