After replacing almost every part on the front end, I finally gave in and asked Doug to help.
Turns out the problem was the rear end, it was loose...
Actually, I believe the problem started with the parts in the front end being worn out, but during the process of replacing parts and chasing the problems, I had new rear springs installed, which created a new problem...which I didn't double check since the parts were new.
No matter the reasons, the steering is now very comfortable and steady, as it should be!
The 150 mile drive home was pleasant and uneventful at 70-80mph.
Since good always seems to accompany bad...I must report that after 37 years of working for the same company, the owners have chosen to retire, leaving my future employment status rather uncertain.
With this uncertainty lingering, I have decided that spending $2500+ to attend the National is not a wise choice.
(The national is not that expensive, but we had some other side trips planned)
So, the room I had reserved will soon be available. It is a king bed handicap accessible room from June 27th with departure on July 2nd.
If anyone is interested and knows how to get the hotel to transfer it from me to you, let me know.
Car may soon be available too...
Rob
Good news on the car Rob; glad to hear it's driving nicely now for you after a little bit of TLC from the good doctor!
I'm sorry to hear your other news; these things in life come along at times and you have to then look at what your options are. Let's hope that things line up for you
Thanks Paul!
Life will work itself out.
Sure is cool to have a nice driving Hudson now!!
The A/C makes summer a lot more pleasant, and all the new parts take a lot of worry out of long trips.
It is nice to just turn the key and "go"...
Rob
