Recent discussions about requesting literature for the online library have pointed out that while members who have said literature don't know if what they have would be of use. The simple answer to that is - anything relating to the Hudson Motor Car Company is welcome. In this post I'm going to get a bit more specific regarding bulletins:
Recently I was loaned some Sales Department Bulleting from the 1936 thru 1938 (only have 2 of these) era. These documents are loaded with usefull iinformation - a 1937 bulleting i'm currently scanning - 37-1 - contains info on body types list prices, equipment packages, wheel ooptions, upholstery - the list goes on and on. So we need the following:
Sales Department Bulletins (if available) - 1930's and 1940's, plus any other years:
Car Distribution Department Bulletins - we've found some for the 1940's and 1950's;
General Technical Policies and Info - 1930's. 1940's, 1950's;
General Accessory and Info; - 1930's, 1940's
General Parts Policies and Info - 1930's thru 1950's
General Parts Policies and Info - 1930's (if available) thru 1950's
Now I know there are collections out there and the holder is planning on selling this material at some future date - sort of a retirement plan. Just because the item appears in the online library does NOT mean it's lost its sale value. There are many collectors that want original material and, even tho they may download a copy from the library they still want the orginal. And having a copy in the online library gives these buyers an idea of what is available for them toi buy. There are also people who want a certain document to help with a restoration project. I mentioned some of the areas covered in Sales Department bulletin 37-1 - perhaps the restorer just needs a list of colors that were used. They aren't going to buy a whole collection just for that color list.
So give this post some thought. We'll go into more in another post. My good friend, arthur-itis, is acting up and it's hard to type all this. I need a secretary. LOL
