I have heard both ways on needing to us a ballast resistor. prior post I said regulator instead of resistor.

Not sure what you mean by "internally regulated". Please explain.

Some coils use external resistors, like older Chrysler products. Others have had resisters built into the coil body.. Is the latter of these two what you meant by internally regulated?
