Does anyone know what the font is on the 1935 Terraplane Special G hub-cap? I want to make a digitised mask to facilitate painting the black background around the raised lettering.
Thanks
Doug
I cant tell you what font it is Doug. I'm sure someone may know but if not and you have a reasonable close up picture you can submit it to one of many websites which automatically identify the font and lets you know.

Thanks Glenn,
That is a great idea and I will give that a try. I am hoping that the local sign shop use one of my hubcaps to capture the font and font squirrel can do the rest. Once we know what font it is I believe they can size it digitally and produce the vinyl overlay to facilitate painting the black background on my re-chromed hubcap.

Good luck Doug. I'll be interested to hear how you go with that approach. Mine were hand painted with enamel which passes but not perfect. Glenn
Glen, did you have any adhesion problems,? The owner of the chromeShop advised me to clean with alcohol and then apply a clear vinyl -wash primer before painting and it will never flake off.
I have vinyl Terraplane decals on baby moons on Vintique artillery repro rims and only a purist would know they are not original to the car.
Car is just out of paint and going to upholstery shop this Thursday.
Very nice job Doug. My painting skills are not the best so when you look close you can see brush strokes. I couldn't think of any other way to mask off and use vinyl over the curve.
I cleaned the caps with prep wash but didn't prime. I was advised that enamel on the bare chrome is about the only paint which will stick and not flake off. So far so good.
The 1st photo shows the skin off the cap post chrome stripping and dent removal but prior to re-affixing onto the base cap.
The 2nd photo shows the finished caps. I probably should take a clearer copy but you can see the 112 caps are fairly complicated to get vinyl inserts made to fit.
