The Hydramatic mounts are almost certainly shot, as is one of the motor mounts. Are there any hints or tips to doing this? The motor mounts seem straightforward enough, I can't quite see back to the transmission clearly to see the whole situation yet.

These have a captive metal part between the rubber that can't let it pull apart completely.
If you have to replace the hydramatic mounts, it's easiest to remove the tranny cover pan from inside of the car in order to get to them.
Done on a lift with a screw jack makes the trans mounts job reasonable. It is still not bad doing it with the vehicle supported safely on jack stands using the floor jack under the trans pan. Make sure you protect the trans oil pan with a piece of plywood or equivalent so it doesn't dent it. The engine mounts can be done by removing the tin cover underneath, taking a block of wood and jacking the engine up. Make sure the car can not roll, apply e-brake, chock the wheels, etc,. The coolant needs to be drained down far enough to loosen the lower radiator hose. This is to allow the engine to be jacked up freely without restriction. It needs to be high enough for the new ,much taller mounts to go between the support plate and the frame. Use a punch to line up the bolts.. Make sure that the radiator hose is located correctly on the steel tube, be sure the hose clamps are re-tightened. Re-fill coolant.
Something else, fresh engine and trans mounts usually change the position of the exhaust, so always re-check it as well for proper position.
Thanks all. Your inputs are greatly appreciated. Mr Wildrick, I suspect an order will be in your future.
