Hello- I have a 51 Hudson Hornet that needs a New Clutch.
I live in Central Tennessee near Nashville. Does anyone know
a good mechanic with Hudson experience in this area ?
Last month, as a new member ,I posted on this forum for help getting
the clutch unstuck. I was astonished at how many folks came to
my rescue w/ helpful advise, calls and emails. Tried all of them and finally got it functional
but, it just didnt come back roadworthy (too weak even after adjusting it). Appreciated
so much those of you who "lent a hand from across the miles". I can see this group looks after
its own, even new comers. Many Thanks- Jay W.

Jay,
Wildrick Restoration is 4 hours North of you in Shelbyville, Indiana. His specialty is Hudson automobiles and cork clutches.
Check out his website and give him a call.

Jay, we stock all the necessary parts you might need. We also can install a new assembly if you like. Call 317-398-4163 , ask for Denny. He can schedule your car for repair. I hope we can help you, thanks Doug

Hello Doug- Thanks for your responce. I would like to bring the Hornet to you
for repairs. My only reservation is the distance between us and how I would get
it to you.
A mechanic friend told me he thinks the clutch definitly needs replacement and
that 1st gear might have a tooth broken. So, the trans might need 1st gear repaired
as well as clutch replaced. Could you give me a general idea of cost range for those
two fixes as ell as a time range as to when you could get to it in your shop. Many thanks- Jay W.
Jay, J. Keller from NY had his car transported here and drove it home this past week. You are only 6-7 hrs.away, so transport cost would probably be lower. If you had it shipped here, maybe we could have it done before the Nats in Chattanooga. You need to contact Denny, he controls the scheduling dept. , 317-398-4163 or email him at info@wrphet.com Thanks
Mine was slipping a bit before I replaced it... this is what you might be looking at as far as a bad clutch disc.
Did you do the replacement yourself ?
Jay,
Yes I did, but could not have done it without Wildrick's parts and expertise. If you are comfortable in knowing that it's something you can do, then go for it. Always good to have a friend give you an hand if you want to try it on your own. If you are in the dark about a few things and have never attempted this type of project then it might be best to have Wildrick do it... plus, you'll get it done right.
