I am trying to find blackwall tires for my Hudson Jet Liner. Presently I have an old set of Coker radial wide whites (about 15 years old and starting to look bad) which are P195/75R15. I can only find wide whites for the car, and my car was unusually ordered in Canada with blackwalls, no fenderskirts, continental kit or full wheel covers - I have the build sheet. I have the original spare - a blackwall. Now, the Cokers are also a tad too big because they scrape the fender arch on hard right or left turns when parking.
So, what is an alternative and fractionally smaller size I can put on this car? I prefer radials since I drive the car weekly and good distances. Any help is appreciated.
When you find the radial blackwalls you might want to take off the large letters, and other non-fifties stuff; see the website below:

Is this the same person who writes the wonderful articles for Hemming's Classic Car?
Can try Lucas Tire Company, in Long Beach California, and Diamondback Tires ( They carry blackwalls too)
Ray: the answer to your first question is, "YES!".
Milton: where the heck did you get a build sheet for this? Did you find it stuffed under a seat or something? I may have been living under a rock, but I've never encountered anyone with a build sheet for a Hudson and had wondered ('til now) if indeed they were ever placed in the cars. Possibly this is something that only came out of the Canadian plant? Might be worth researching, and then doing an article for the WTN (hint-hint, nudge-nudge....)
Jon, last week while removing the radio from the 1956 Hornet Special to be repaired by HET member Steve Engel, found a "build sheet". taped, and tucked under the dashboard from the Milwaukee AMC body plant that lists every option the factory installed in that car.
Yes, they do exist! :cheer:
Yes, build sheets did exist for AMC built Hudsons beginning with 1955 models, but Hudson used to plaster small stickers on the windshields which indicated what options would be included with each car - no build sheets that I am aware of. I was the one that used to be blessed with removing the "stickers" from the inside of the windshield at my Dad's dealership.
