Hello,
I have been reading the reference material here on the site prior to digging into my clutch replacement project and there is multiple references to Hudson specific tools staring with J- then typically a three digit number.
Does reference material exist that shows pictures of these J-### tools?
Thanks in advance.
Don
Well....looks like no one is going to ring-in on this one so I'll give it a shot. This is speculation on my part but who knows...I might be right.
These tools with the "J" prefix were made by the Kent-Moore company. There were many more than just the 3 digit numbers and were made (my guess here) for the auto manufacturers (not just Hudson) as special tools for their specific service needs. So far, I've never seen a "J" tool that wasn't intended for some particular make/model-specific task. You may notice some KMO tool numbers as well. As far as I can tell, those were general tools (like a guide reamer, tubing cutter, etc.) I think KMO is Kent-Moore Organization. They are still around doing the same thing but, of course, the numbers you see in the old Hudson manuals are obsolete. The only way you'll find them is the usual sources for that kind of stuff.....swap meets, Ebay (yuk) or blind luck. The other choices are to find common tools that will do the job or make your own. I got tired of waiting for a J-2729 oil pump installation/alignment tool to drop into my lap so I did just that. It works on any of the pressure lubed sixes and saves a pile of time and frustration.
Hope you can find what you need.
