Over the last few years, and certainly since I got my head out of my Hornet, I've really got an appreciation for the short-nosed or Junior cars, specifically the Wasps and Super Wasps. So, get those pics out and let's see some shots of those HW's and HSW's! All body styles welcome! B)

Wow. No one is interested in posting pictures, or making comments? I thought this thread might generate more interest. It's gotten some good posts on the Open Forum.

It is a beautiful Hudson. I really like the color. Is that original color? I remember when the 54's came out. I was 10 then and didn't like the changed body style. I guess it was because Dad had a 51 Hornet since new and I liked that style better. I have a 52 Hornet and my son has a 54 Hornet Special Club Sedan. I've grown to like the 54 and every time see my son's car I ask when he wants to sell it let me know first. Another one I didn't care much for was the Jet. I thought they looked like a small version of a Ford. But I have come to appreciate them as well. Two things turned me on to the Jet. The biggest thrill was seeing the red convertible Jet with the top down at the Detroit International Meet. I feel in love with that car. That may have been a big seller in 54 had they produced them. Second was the Hornet Jets. Don't know how well they would have sold back then but sure would be fun to have one and shake up the big 3.

The blue car is mine, I first drove the car in 1992 at the Western Regionals being held in UTAH. Glen Johnson was selling the car then. I was the dad to a large family and all were at home at the time. Although the price was reasonable, i had to pass. The car has gone through two owners since then and last year I finally got to buy the car. It is one of two that I own. The other is a 1954 WASP. I oriingally traded for that car in 1975 and drove it as everday transport until 1980. Sold it back to the person I had gotten it. In 2010 a HET friend told me that had found a car like mine in far west Texas. It turned out to be the same 1954 WASP. I repurchased and today it is awaiting my attention. I am partial to the 1954 Stepdown cars. The Two door hardtop, convertible and club sedans are my favorites. I have not owned a convertible, and have decided that those who own them are blessed and I am blessed by the models I have own and owned.

Ken-

The red car, I can't tell if the front fender says "Hornet Special" or Super Wasp, which is it?

Ken,

I'm wondering the same thing for the tan and black car.

Per

PS. I bought a 54 Hornet Special of this body style in Portland, Oregon in 1966, and drove it across the country. Its present owner, Ron Doviak, who lives in Pennsylvania bought it in 1969. My nickname for the car was CHEF, because the letters that label Cold, Hot, Empty and Full on the dashboard spell that!

Per the I believe the car you are speaking about is the "Yellow and Black" Bumble Bee that is owned by Steve Blake. That car is a HORNET SPECIAL which is in original condition. If that is not the car you are speaking of the other DARK over light color is a Black over Green 54 Super Wasp Club Sedan.

Russell- the Red and Black car is a SUPER WASP.

well I have a 53 coupe in the garage, just don't think a picture right now would be viewed more than 1/2 a sec. Looking forward to getting the project started.
