Can anyone offer suggestions or tips on converting from a 6V to 12V system? Specifically, what are some sources for the components, how to do it, and are there any specific modifications to the wiring harness? Thank you in advance.
Richard, I just found Park Waldrop's guide. This probably deserves a place in the Library too. I might post it there if Park doesn't mind.
Wow! Thank you so much for such a helpful source.
Great info!!! I am looking at options for having a modern sound system in my original '52 Hornet. A 6v to 12v converter seems simplest right now; I will post my progress on how that works. Remember, the original 6v radio had a 14 amp fuse, so a converter would be a smaller load!!!! The converter i am looking at draws 7 amps or so.
When shopping you will be looking for an "Inverter" to go from 6volt to 12volt. Just to make sure you get the right thing. And dont forget it needs to go from 6volt positive grount to 12 volt negative ground,
