Just bought what appears to be a Hudson-made heater, hoping it will work properly in my 34 Terraplane. Can anyone tell me if this is indeed an early 30's Hudson heater and if so, where on the firewall the holes should be drilled, Note that on the top of the front cover it has a slightly corroded triangle. Thanks in advance.

It certainly looks very "Hudsonny" with its triangular and hexagonal motifs. However, I don't think it's the real McCoy.

If you could find a '34 sales catalog, that would probably contain a photo of the correct heater. The closest thing I could find on line, was a December 1934 merchandiser, which announced that the new 1935 heaters would be exactly the same as the 1934 model. (They seemed to say there was only one model of heater, no choices). And in the same issue they show photos of different accessory displays that Hudson dealers could purchase. The deluxe display shows all the bells and whistles you could buy for your new car, and it shows what I believe is the correct heater. Which, unfortunately, does not look like the one you have.

Check it out (it's downloadable, at our on-llne library here at the website.

Meanwhile, I just stumbled onto an Ebay heater that looks an awful lot like the ones in the merchandiser (though the merchandiser photo is awfully fuzzy). And what's more...it has a Hudson manufacturer's plate on the back! Thanks Jon. That ebay item certainly looks like the real deal. I will check the catalog as well.

I don't know about it's application/origin, but if it's genuine Hudson, that triangle would be at the bottom since the horizontal line would be at the top.
