Has anyone ever added air conditioning to a Hudson? I am specifically looking for info about finding a source for compressor mounting plates/brackets or ideas on fabricating my own. I will also be converting this to 12 V negative ground, so finding a bracket that would hold both of these would be great. Ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated. I have substantial experience adding A/C and heat to antique autos, but this is just my first time with a Hudson.
What kind of Hudson are you adding this to?
Why haven't you sent me the details on your car so I can add it to the database? 😛
Joe Stinnett has brackets that are cast from the original for 232,262,308. If for another engine, I am not sure.
Park Waldrop has a guide for converting to 12V.
Tell us more about your project (and me, more about your car). I have a list of data that we put into the database about the vehicles on the homepage.
It looks like you'll be converting to 12 volts, but I do have a friend with a '54 who has used a 12-volt compressor and rigged it to work on his 6-volt. So, all things are possible.
There is a guy in NC that made a bunch of AC for the stepdown 6 engines, as of about a week or so he said he had one left. I think he said he's not making more due to lack of interest. He is on the classiccar Hudson forum as JasonNC I think.
Thanks guys, this is for a 1940 series 41...I'll add that information today.
Matt- do you have any contact information for the gentleman in SC?
