A quick search on Stanley Motors turned up this:
"Precise production figures have been lost, but sales figures show that in 1959 407 DS models were sold in South Africa, most of them presumably coming from the Natalspruit plant, which was operated not by SA Citroën but by Stanley Motors, a South African owned company. "
Refers to Citroen of course but it looks as if that company had the ability to build cars as well which is underpinned by this statement :
"South Africa
Hudson cars were assembled from complete knock down (CKD) kits in South Africa by Stanley Motors in Natalspruit (Gauteng)"
Gifford, concerning Heidi Hetzer: HERE is her website:
Here is her e-mail address: meet.heidi.along.the.way@gmail.com
Our local chapter of the Hudson club held a picnic in her honor, as she drove through our area, and found her to be a very personable, intrepid, fearless and most interesting lady. If you have made any contacts among S. African antique car enthusiasts, you might want to tell them about Heidi. Perhaps a group of you could arrange to gather together to meet her!
I do not know her exact itinerary in S. Africa.
Also, if any of these people know a good mechanic in the area, that information could be helpful to Heidi, in case she is experiencing any mechanical problems with her car "Hudo" when she arrives!
Thanks for this info! I have contacted her.
