Cool Video of 1953 Darlington 500. Note the many Hudsons participating in the race.

Darlington Raceway - the Lady In Black. Those early days were real stock car racing. Tough tracks, tough cars and tough men to drive them. To much money in the sport any more. Take a good look at the racing back then - it wasn/t 500 laps with all the cars bunched up and very little passing like today. Lot has been lost and unless the boys running NASCAR today get their heads ouit of the back slot NASCAR will be ho hum and soon.

Great video Russ, thanks for posting.
Too bad Hudson did not win this one.
Yeah, but they won plenty.
It also appears the trophy has a Hudson on top of it ! Does that mean the winner of '52 was on top of the trophy?.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that it took something like 30 years before a NASCAR race car topped Hudsons overall wins between 1951 and 1955. Supposedly it was Ford that did. Don't know if there's any truth to that or not.

Thanks for the link Russ. Great movie. Only one problem, after watching the movie I didn't get anything thing else done because I was up till 12:30 last night watching many of the other old NASCAR race films that were available to watch. Also, I heard NASCAR is going to have a new format at the races by throwing cautions every 20 laps weather needed or not. You think maybe NASCAR wants more commercial income so every 20 laps we get to watch 5 minutes of commercials or to mandate drivers use the john weather needed or not.
Lee, it's in the truck series. Another one of Brainless Bryans great ideas. Supposedly being done to tighten up the field which they think will lead to more action. Here's the way it works (or doesn't work):
Starting with the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 19, Camping World Truck Series races will use a 20-minute timer that begins counting down at the start of each green-flag run. If no caution period occurs before the 20-minute limit elapses, the yellow flag will fly, giving teams the opportunity to make pit stops and adjustments under caution.
I'll stick to Saturday nite shootouts at my local short, dirt track, thank you.
