Just change the plug wires to start firing order at #2. 1-5-3-6-2-4. Or you can play with the oil pump till you get the gear in the right position. Hudson made a tool to line up the gear on the pump. Walt.

Walt How Does One Change The Oil Pump Gear To Line Up Right ?
Don't The Pan Have To Come Down To Get To The Oil Pump ??
Thanks
Joe

Believe me it isn't worth the frustration trying to line up the gear to #1. Follow Walt's instruction. Put #1 wire at #2 distributor post. The engine will run like it is suppose to. Even with the tool it is a pain in the neck. May end up trying multiple times to get it the way you want it. I would not do it again in the car in a million year. I wouldn't care what post it ended up on, that is where I would start wiith #1 wire.
The oil pump is on the right side under the exhaust manifold above oil pan.
Good luck

Either distributor or oil pump was removed or both and neither were not put back by the book. Next time you go to a Hudson meet you might see #1 wire at any one of the six cap posts on different cars. Don't worry about it. Your car will go just as fast with #1 wire on #2 post.

I have felt that way at times then I say to myself SELF why should someone else enjoy all the benefits of what I have done. I did the work I deserve the benefit. I hope you get to enjoy it a little after all this work before selling. You deserve it.
