Oil change resulted in significant water draining out of the pan first, maybe a pint or so. Checked the radiator and indeed the level was down. Pulled the head off and really saw nothing "catastrophic" but maybe some coolant towards the middle of the head/gasket but that might have dripped off the bolts when we removed them. But, the head is off and a new gasket ordered.
When I removed the head bolts, I noticed two different thicknesses of washers. About two-thirds of the washers were thicker than the remaining third. I did mark each removed bolt's position. Should not these washers all be the same thickness to the proper torqueing on the bolts?

FYI
I would not be concerned with the bolt placement or thickness of washers. Suggest looking in the cylinders for a hairline crack that may open when warm. Look between the valve seat and cylinder reliefs. Hudson is prone to tiny cracks which usually are harmless, assuming this is a Driver and not a Hot Rod.. Also, check the old gasket closer for a leak spot and take the head to a Shop to ensure perfectly flat, if not have it re surfaced.
When installing head clean the deck with Brake Kleen and coat the bolt threads with Permatex or similar Sealant. I like to spray gasket with K&N Copper Coat then wait until Tacky. Follow the Manual on Torque sequence rotation. I would re torque a couple more times after warmed before driving hard on the motor. Lasty, I would pour a jar of Block Seal in then follow the Instruction.
