Hi All,
I have a few questions regarding the Albright award that were not mentioned in the Rules and Regulation Regarding ... Bill Albright Award.
Q: How many people can win this award if there are multiple entries?
Q: Can you enter more than one Vehicle? (Knowing that each cars entered must be present at the next national)
Thanks,
Christopher.
1 winner per year, regardless of # of entries. Yes, you can enter multiple cars.
thanks Russell,
Just want to make sure I am reading this right, if I change the Upholstery in my Hudson to something different from original that car is not eligible for the award anymore?
I'd like to use lighter and brighter coloured fabric instead of the greys and blues that was stock.
You should probably check on that, but my gut feeling is that they are not that detailed in things like upholstery accuracy.
As long as it's a new car that has never been to any meets and condition does not go into the way the car is presented. Bill Albright just wanted to bring in more hudson's into the club. You must be a member of the National and a local Chapter. Names go into a hat and one name is picked and that is the winner of the Albright Awards, $2,000. We are not a judging club. Forget that saying, that's not original. Walt.
You need to remember that before your car is accepted for the award a team of respected HET folks go out and look at your car. The team is looking for "era correct" and representative of what the original Hudson looked like. If you put a flame job on the paint, or fancy stuff to make it sparkle or stand out, if you have big wheels and rims and stuff then the team will not accept the car for the drawing. Bill Albright was all about having good solid Hudson's back driving and being enjoyed. The car does not have to be 100 percent original, and it does not need to be a high point restoration. It just needs to look like a true Hudson.
Thank you Walt and Margret and Brownie for the information. I want to keep my 49' all orgional but only change out the upholstery to like what I said before. I am part of the Western - North West Chapter and also the national club.
I may be wrong (please correct me if I am), but the way I read the rules, it really doesn't matter how many "Hudson meets" a vehicle has been to (National or otherwise) - what matters is that a car can only be accepted as eligible for the Albright Award drawing once.
The purpose/intent is to prevent the same car from being eligible to win the Albright Award drawing more than once (i.e., once accepted to compete for the award, it can never compete for the award again).
It is my understanding that if a car is submitted for the Albright Award drawing, but rejected (for whatever reason), it can be submitted again (at a future National/International Hudson Meet) - however is still subject to being approved/accepted as being in compliance with the Albright Award Drawing rules(?).
The guidance is not very clear as to what is or is not acceptable...
What other items are 'NO NOs' when it comes to qualifying for the Albright Award?
As examples -
- Anything other than a Hudson rearend?;
- Trans adapter, non-hudson transmission?;
- Aftermarket air-conditioning?;
- Extensive (obvious) suspension modifications? (lowering, aftermarket suspension components, disc brakes, etc.);
- Non-stock steering column/wheel, aftermarket guages, other non-stock interior components, bucket seats, etc.?;
- Other discrete aftermarket guages or hidden radio?;
- Conversion to 12v?
- Clifford Performance intake, exhaust, head?
- Aftermarket cold-air intake, or other non-stock intake:;
- Aftermarket wiring & fuseblocks (non-reproduction type, i.e., Painless Performance);
