Here is an upgrade and maybe done before. A gentleman brought his beloved 54 Hornet Twin H to the shop and wanted much mechanical work done to it. OK, the Borg Warner trans has been rebuilt and a complete front to back suspension was rebuilt. What I did in the back after seeing the worn out way out dated horseshoe things on the rear was to re make using urethane bushings and shackles. I wanted to do this the 37 Terraplane Utility Coupe but had to leave original. Since we restore and rebuild many old cars and do upgrades like this on 60's and 70's cars I have a bunch of left over Urethane Bushings. I measured them out and found some that would work. I had some seamless tubing machined out so the OD of bushings went in and found some more seamless tubing that fit the id. After new springs showed up I mocked them up and made the shackles to fit. Even the front of the leaf springs have urethane bushings. I found those on line by going over dimensions that would fit. The car sits an inch or so higher from old stance. It is smooth. The brakes were bad also and only one worked. When I took off left rear drum all the guts fell out and hydro lines rusted off. I found some used parts and sent off to have all stainless shells put in the wheel cylinders and master cylinder and fab'd new brake lines. The car has been completely rewired with a 12 volt conversion and a Power Master power gen/alt. Anyone who tried this has figured out, the gauge cluster and dash is the worst of any car I had to work on. The only thing that does not work is the temp gauge and fuel gauge after I reduced voltage to them. I will search the forum tomorrow for ideas to tackle that problem

It was on there when car came in. Not bad but internal baffle was not welded in.
