Spring tension for drag link

I'm working on fine tuning the drag link spring tension.
The manual doesn't specify...

I'm reading from other sources, that the tension should be 25%-30%
It is difficult enough to access and turn the plugs, much less run them in and out multiple times to guess at 30%, is there a rough formula; x number of turns in, to get me close?
I can see from adjusting if it is too loose (movement) but once play is removed, how much tighter should they be?

I usually turn them in all the way and then back out to the next cotter pin hole

Rob,
Assuming that the drag link installation is the same for the S/D as it is for the pre S/D cars, the set-up instructions in the earlier books simply says "Plug should be flush with end of drag link......" This is the method I've always used without issue.

Turn plug in till it stops, then turn out 1/2 turn and grease it good and every 1,000 miles. if not it will wear a flat spot and no adjustment will help. Walt.

Walt and Frank,

Thank you for the instruction.

When searching for looseness in the system a couple months ago, we found the rear cup for the forward end of the drag link missing...
We installed one. I don't remember seeing any wear, but will pull it apart again to check.
