Several questions:
First there is a small bearing in the fly wheel. One side is open and you can see the ball bearings. Which way does it of in to flywheel, with ball bearing (Open side) toward the rear or toward the engine?

Second question, What can I use to compress the housing down on the springs?

Last question and other suggestions on how to get the throw out bearing situated and the fingers hooked up.

Since (I've always entrusted clutch work to others, I won't attempt to answer you. Others will jump in here with good advice. But let me ask you: have you downloaded the shop manual and parts manual for your car, from our online library? (If you don't already have these manuals, of course.) They can be awfully handy in answering a number of questions pertaining to the "fit" of certain parts.

Thanks to an old friend, I got it figured out. Told me to get some long bolts and just screw down the clutch plate cover. once it got close enough put in all the bolts and tighten them down like you would a flat head, go opposite bolts and sides drawing the whole thing in place without warping it. Figured the open side of the bearing went toward rear so it could be lubricated. and the fingers got nudged interlace as the cover tightened up. The whole thing ending up being so simple I was kind of embarrassed I didn't figure it out.

Gordon,

Now you should measure the distance from each finger to the rim of the clutch housing. If there is much variation, use a hammer as shown in the manual.
