I'm trying to find a 2.73-1 ring and Pinion for my car and need more information about the details.
I know that my car, a 1952 Hornet, has a Dana/Spicer 44 rear end with a 3.07-1 gear set.
I believe it is a 10 bolt rear end.
Many sellers list sets by size, such as 2.73-8.5"
Is 8.5" the size I need?
Pinion shaft 1.625?
Pinion is how many spline?
Axles are 19 spline?
Standard rotation?
Any other info or tips?

I'm not setting the gears up myself...I'll just be watching and learning...
I've been asked to locate a differential gear set up kit.
Do any of the vendors offer these, or do I need to find all the separate bearings, races, seals, etc?

Thanks,

Rob

Rob, call east coast gear supply and tell them what you have and what you want. They should take care of it.

Put DANA CORP in your computer and you will see that you can order a complete set of 2.73 gears from them. That is where I got mine. Walt.

Walt,

Thank you for your tip!

I looked them up when you offered that info in your email.
I've found several aftermarket gear sets, but no OEM sets yet.
I will call them to ask even though they don't list them.
I posted in an effort to gain knowledge/educate myself about the parts so I can really search hard for them (hard to search if you don't know the details).
The idea being to buy an NOS set for a good price...

Rob
