What is everyone using these days to coat exh. manifolds and/or headers? Anyone tried Eastwood's new manifold coating? Anyone know of anything that lasts?

How about this? Supposed to be good to 2000 degrees...

Have you tried it? Most of that real cheap stuff looks ok till you fire it up . . . and then it goes bye-bye.
I've used Eastwood's High Temp Cast Iron powdercoat with great results on three exhaust manifolds and all still look great.
I've attempted to include a photo here but it says the file is too big.......funny, it used to work ok.

Frank, they did; now you need to go to edit on computer and change photo to medium size( that is the old 800x600) and browse to that one {will be next to the original} AND they will GO !! Assuming you have photo gallery with edit--or something similar. Had to do that on my posts. If you don't, and it is too large it just won't do anything ~~~
Eastwood has a quart of brush on or spray cast iron manifold paint that works great and looks more factory than any black coatings would.
You will get lots of answers: I use VHT 2000 degree header paint; never had flaking, but you need to sand blast cast iron/steel and soda blast aluminum; prep is main thing in doing this. Then mist on several coats; too thick and it will come off. It is silica ceramic. Must be cured. They make about any color and also 'cast iron' that looks real good. Black was never on them originally since they were not painted; left raw. $16. per can at Amazon--not cheap, but how many times to you paint the exhaust ?? I can't talk too loud since my exhaust headers and twin pipes are aluminized and not painted on the Hudson.
Russell,
I have used POR-15 on my hornet and jet and have had no peeling problems. Highly recommended. Gray looks the best.
John
Russell,
Hope there is no confusion about my comment. To make it clear, I was talking about their high temp paint, not their rust killer.
John
I understood. Thanks!

Hi Russell - Have tried/used it, but not on exhaust manifolds. If I would try it with that, would probably go by the directions (and make sure the part was easy enough to remove, clean and put some other product on...
I've used Eastwoods brush on paint with excellent results. Recommended.
I have used the Eastwood Cast Iron Gray exhaust manifold paint(brush on) with great results. Looks real good on my 50C8 and almost matches the original silver engine paint after it has been thru a few heat cycles. You can touch it up later too and it still looks good. You just wire brush the loose rust off and paint it, no need to sand blast.
