I thought I'd move this into the Hudson part of the forum as it didn't seem to be getting much attention in the Literature section.
By now everyone should be aware that I am building an online library, with Paul Butler doing the actual uploading. While we have a ton of great info online I know that there has to be more material that should be scanned and placed online.
I just updated the library index and Paul has placed it at the beginning of the library for easy access. I urge everyone who may have literature to hand to check that against the index (individual bulletins are listed in Part 2) to see if you might happen to have something we haven't put online.
There are some restrictions. We cannot scan large items over 8½ x 11, unless they are like photos in an album that we could scan the individual photos. Manuals over 65 or 70 pages are difficult to scan because they don't lay flalt, but can be done. But it's easier if they can be taken apart - something I really don't like to do unless it is in ragged shape to begin with. We can scan manuals in rough shape - the 1920 Model 1O, 11-O, 12-O we have looked like some mechanic was overhauling an engine or some such and using the parts book to wipe his hands. The scans came out really good.
While I'd like to continue purchasing items, as I've done in the past, please take into consideration that I am retired on a fixed income making funds limited so I can't really offer to buy material. Realizing this is a touchy subject I would ask people with literature collections to consider making provisions for those collections to be donated to the H-E-T virtual library which I would do after scanning the material.
Donations would be gladly accepted - when I finish with them I would pass the material on to John O'Halloran. Any material loaned will be returned as quickly as possible.
Hoping to hear from y'all. Thanks for reading this post.

No volunteers to help make a great library even better???
Hudsonly,
Alex B
Thanks for the reminder, Alex. I'll look through my things and see if there's something there to add to the collection.
Park
Thank you Park. Your efforts will be appreciated, not only by me, but by anyone who may have need of whatever material you can contribute.

Alex,
I have owners manuals for 1935 Hudson 8 and for 1942 Hudson. If you are interested in scanning either or both of them, I'll loan them.
Per
Hi Per,
I can use both as I don't have them online. Would make a suggestion that you wait until after New Years to mail them - what with all the Christmas mailing more chances of something going astray.
Sending you an email to confirm my address.
Thank you for your contribution - every bit makes a better resource for the club.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Hudsonly,
Alex Burr
Thank you, Per and Alex!
Russell, I just wish I could find more members willing to share. I know there are some people with good collections - I just can't understand why they aren't willing to help thier fellow club members. I wish someone with literature would be willing to stand up and tell us why they won't share. Of course, I realize that with some 1800 documents in the library (this is breaking down the bulletins) there is much material already online.
Hudsonly,
Alex B
Alex, have you recently posted a list of doc's that you know exist but don't have?
Park, I wish I did have a list of what was available that I don't have. I have no idea what the factory put out - but I sure would like a list. Best I can do is supply an up-to-date listing of what is currently in the library. Anybody who has something they would like to send along fo me can check the online libary to see if the object is there or not.

If it will help I can create an Excel spreadsheet of what there is currently in the library and put it in the library for reference.
Paul,
That would be great - just delete the current online index of what I've put in the library - it's a tad out of date.
In the meantime I'll go thru the Dec. lindex of my back-up file so I can compare the two later.

Alex,
How are things going with getting more documents? I believe that Carl Weber has some, unless he has already given them to the club. Years ago, as you no doubt remember, he maintained a library for nearby Hudsonites to use.
He says he doesn't go to the website much, so he may not have seen your appeal for documents. He is active on email however, so you could send him a message.

Per,
Thank you for the heads up. I've scanned quite a bit of material from Carl's collection - last batch were several parts books from the 1910-1916 era. Over the years I have copied other material from his collection - like, for example, his great photo collection. And I've been thru his file drawers too. So we're pretty well covered.
I picked up a bunch of 1920's individual body folders along with several owners manuals and some general historical stuff. Working on all of this at the moment.
Again thank you for mentioning Carl.

Alex,
Good. I'm glad that you have gotten some more things to work with, and that you'd already mined Carl's collection.
